Blind taste test

There are espresso machines and espresso techniques galore on the market. Imagine a taste test of coffee (the same bean) made on a range of machines starting with the absolute least expensive options up to the most expensive. Could reasonable people differentiate among them? Could or would they associate the higher cost machines with a better brew? That would be really interesting! No?
